You never know who is reading information you have posted. You should never post your full name, address, phone number, email address, or even instant messanger screen name. If you want to share this information with friends, share it in person or through a personal email message.

TIP #2: If a site is blocked on the computer you are using, do not try to access it.

Chances are the site is not safe for you to view. It is blocked for a reason.

TIP #3: If you don't know the person, don't talk to them.

Even if you think it might be a friend of a friend, don't take the risk. If they really know you, they will be able to talk to you in a way other than through a computer.

TIP #4: Don't give your password to anyone other than your parents.

Your password is like the key to your house. You wouldn't want to just give it away!

TIP #5: Do not arrange to meet someone from the Internet without your parents.

Unfortunately, some people are not honest about their age, gender, appearance, or even why they want to meet you in the first place. Play it safe, bring your parents along!

TIP #6: If you are unsure, ask an adult!

This goes for anything such as , messages that make you uncomfortable, messages from people you do not know, files that you want to download, information that you collect for school work, finding a website that makes you uncomfortable or that you are unsure whether to read or not. Don't hesitate to ask an adult for advice!

TIP #7: DO use the internet RESPONSIBLY for school work.

The internet has great information that can help you in school. Be sure that if you find information, you do not copy it and pretend that it is your own idea. That is illegal! When you find information you want to share, make sure you record the person who made the website, the website address so that the person who posted the information receives credit for their hard work!
